WHY Guam?
Guam allowed the United States to have a presence in the western Pacific. This in turn allowed the United States easier access to markets in Asia. We also use Guam as a place where we can hold military bases. These military bases allowed the United States to better manage their foreign affairs in Asia, as well as build up our markets with Asia. Today, Guam is home to both United States Naval and Air Force bases.
